Savoy

Brown’s

Brown’s is 11 townhouses in two parallel streets from Piccadilly. Founded 175 years ago by former valet of Lord Byron, the hotel became the favourite place of Agatha Christie. Alexander Bell made his first telephone call here, and just at this hotel Rudyard Kipling completed his “The Jungle Book”. In 2005 the hotel was restored completely.

The Ritz

Delightful interiors, irreproachable service, from door-keepers with white gloves engaged into epaulettes, and door-keepers opening doors for each guest and to maids in starched caps. The bedrooms and apartments were restored in the original style of the 16^th century. The dress code for guests has been preserved here, and the famous five-o-clock tea is served.

Mandarin Oriental

Her Majesty the Queen would feel herself at home in this hotel which faces Hyde Park, and no wonder, because just here Her Majesty and Princess Margaret used to learn dancing pas. Now yoga lessons are practised in this hall.

Lansborough

Historically, this building was a country seat of viscount Lansborough, then it was reconstructed for Saint George hospital and it became a hotel only in 1990.This hotel’s windows face Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace garden.

Claridge’s

The legendary hotel where royalties, Arab sheiks and the heads of states stay. The famous five-o-clock tea is also served here.

The Goring

The hotel is across the road from Buckingham Palace and is still owned by the family whose members opened it some time ago. An advantage of the hotel is a huge private garden with the central grass-plot on which croquet is played in summer months. The recent reconstruction opened a new delightful front hall decorated with manually painted wall-paper (some motifs contain caricatures of the personnel and owners) of fabulous beasts in romantic English landscape paintings. Many rooms were designed by Russell Sage, and his bedrooms are decorated with Gainsborough silk.
